Q: When does the program start and finish?
A: The program typically begins in late January and ends in April. Our regional and national symposiums are normally held between April and May.
Q: How long is the program?
A: The program is 10 weeks long.
Q: What is the average time commitment per week?
A: The time commitment varies depending on group work outside of regular sessions, but is usually around 2 to 4 hours per week, with 2 hours of formal weekly sessions. The rest of your time will be spent working on your research project with your team.
Q: How do I apply to become a High School Investigator (HSI)?
A: Apply online through our website’s “Join Us” tab from October to early January. Applications are currently open for the 2023 program, apply before January 7th 2023!
Q: What is Youreka’s acceptance rate?
A: Since the number of applicants and space available varies, the acceptance rate also varies depending on the region and positions available. We encourage everyone to apply, regardless of your prior experience or grades.
Q: How are High School Investigator applications evaluated?
A: We take a holistic evaluation based on the applicant's application and interview.
Q: Will the 2023 program be online or in-person?
A: Following all local health guidelines and recommendations, we are aiming for an in-person program for 2023. In-person programs are held on campus at the university you apply to.
